Jamiel Hafiz, LPA, LAc

CLINICAL DIRECTOR -- INTEGRATIVE REHAB MEDICINE, ACUPUNCTURE, OSTEOPATHY

Jamiel began practicing Neuromuscular therapy and shiatsu in the early 90s. In New Mexico, he apprenticed with Trigger Point and Feldenkrais therapists, and gained proficiency in a broad range of manual and movement-based treatment techniques.  While completing a degree in Evolutionary and Sociobiology at UNM, he also trained in manual medicine alongside Osteopathic residents. Recognizing some extremely useful therapeutic traditions were missing from modern medicine, Jamiel came upon classical East Indian medical science called Ayurveda.  Ayurvedic Medicine employs numerous medicines, treatments, techniques, and exam skills that are still utilized in modern medicine and surgery today.  Jamiel graduated from the Ayurvedic Institute under, Dr. Vasant Lad, and went on to learn more specific naturopathic treatments, for a wide range of conditions, as a Ayurvedic Panchakarma Technician at Maharishi International University.  Jamiel also had the honor of apprenticing in Ayurvedic Naturopathy with Vaidya Agam Baghel. In 2001 Jamiel qualified in the first class of Registered Yoga Teachers in the U.S., with a special proficiency in medical (Ayurvedic) usage of yoga, asana, and pranayama.  He also holds a Master’s Degree in a more constitutional approach to acupuncture from TAI(now Maryland University of Integrative Health), and he served on the Honor Council during his PA medical education at Towson University.
